Shawnee Pottery of Zanesville, Ohio produced three lines of corn ware from 1941 until the company closed in 1961. The company’s corn ware was its most well-known pottery and considered to be highly collectable still today.
The first line, WHITE CORN KING was designed with white kernels and dark green husks and produced from 1941 – 1946. The line consisted of seven pieces. More pieces were added in 1946 and the colours were changed to yellow and a lighter green husks. This new line was named, CORN KING. When sales dipped, Shawnee replaced the line in 1954 with QUEEN CORN, with lighter yellow kernels and darker green shuck.
