Description

Designed in 1964 by David Rowland, the 40/4 chair was the first compact stackable chair invented and has become a complete design icon. Recognised as one of the most important and groundbreaking designs of the 20th century.

It turns out you can stack 40 of these chairs comfortably, with in a height of 4 feet, hence the name 40/4. These chairs are the ultimate must have in public seating, Mr Rowland went to great lengths to make sure the ergonomics of this seat suited as many peoples posture as possible. So not only are they iconic, stackable, colourful and durable, they are also super stylish, seen in design museums all over the world. The minimalist, elegant design allows them to be used in any setting, modern or historic, restaurant or office, its up to you.

Ageless in design and style, Our chairs were made in 1982. We have a small amount of each, so get in touch before they are all gone! We also have this design in bright bold primary colours too, take a look at our chair page to see them.

The condition of each chair varies, some being near perfect, and some have surface marks, chips and veneer lifting in places, let us know if you want a closer look.
