Description

A lovely set of 2 handblown margarita glasses from America.

These glasses feature a clear green glass base and bowl with a green cactus stem. These are nice, thick, solid glasses that will bring a bit of fun to your cocktail evenings.

Being hand made these glasses have a rustic quality to them with visible bubbles in the glass making each one individual in its appearance. One of the glasses also has a slight warp to its base making stand very marginally taller than the other. This can be seen in the images.

According to cocktail historian David Wondrich, the margarita as we know and love evolved from a cocktail known as the “daisy.” This, a mix of alcohol, citrus juice, and grenadine served over shaved ice, was popular during the 1930s and 40s. There were gin daisies and whiskey daisies and, eventually, inevitably, tequila daisies, the original recipe for which called for tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and a splash of soda. At some point, this Mexican-influenced daisy became known by its Spanish name, margarita, which means daisy in Spanish.
