A vintage white tin metal milk box with hinged lid and insulating polystyrene liner inside.
On the front of the box is a red decal featuring a cow and ‘Meadow Brook Farms Dairy, Clarksville, N.Y’. This classic American-made non-locking box was perfect for home deliveries to the front porch or door. The interior of the box is insulated with polystyrene to keep milk and other food products cool and fresh. On the back of the box is the original ‘Milkboxes, Phoenix Metal Products Inc. Freeport, New York, 11520’ sticker.
The decal has started to wear away, plus there is some paint chipping, surface marks and rust spots. The interior polystyrene insulation is in tact. Please see images. These boxes were placed on the door step or porch for milk deliveries to prevent freezing in winter and keeping cool in summer.
