Description
Vinatge wood and composite airboat propeller by Sensenich.
This Sensenich propeller is made from birch and has black composite covering the lower 2 thirds of the blade. It has been engraved with the makers mark ‘Sensenich, 72KXL44K, AK1039’ on the side of the central section. There is a metal ring in the centre of the propeller and 6 holes either side of it. There are some surface scratches, scuffs and a small chip on one of the edges. Please see images for details.
All Sensenich wood airboat propellers are manufactured from aircraft grade birch and feature composite reinforcement around the last half of the blade. This allows the removal of the traditional metal cap on the end of the blade that contributed to so many service problems in the past. The composite prevents erosion and foreign objects from exposing the wood fibres to the elements. This gives a longer lasting wood propeller when cared for properly.
Sensenich Propeller was established in 1932 in Pennsylvania, U.S.A. to manufacture fixed pitch wood aircraft propellers for the growing aviation market. In 1949 manufacture wood propellers for the burgeoning airboat market began. Aluminium propellers for aircraft was added to the product line in the 1950’s and in later years they began the line of ground adjustable composite propellers for Airboat, Aircraft and UAV’s.
