Description

Planters was founded by Italian immigrant Amedeo Obici in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He opened his own fruit stand, and invested in a peanut roaster. Obici turned peddler within a few years, using a horse and wagon, and calling himself “The Peanut Specialist”. In 1906, Obici entered a partnership with Mario Peruzzi.  By 1913, Obici had moved to Suffolk Virginia,, the peanut capital of the world, and opened Planters’ first mass production plant and facility there.

The Mr Peanut Logo is on the tin.  It contained 10 lbs of Wholesome Whole Peanuts.  These were Planters Pennant Salted Peanuts.

Condition is vintage used.  There are some areas of paint loss and it has had a crease down it.  Original lid.  We have not tried to clean or restore it.

Product Code: 5028

Styling: Great vintage store tin look.  Would happily sit amongst a collection, on a vintage store shelf or a film set.
