Description

American copper metal gun powder flask, originally used to charge muskets.

It is possibly from around the time of the American Civil War, although there is no makers or date mark.

The flask is embossed on one side with a pheasant in a landscape surrounded by flowers and foliage. The other side is smooth and plain.

There is some corrosion/discolouration near the bottom, and the seam has come open in a couple of places. The charging spring is missing, and one of the circular rings on the side is also missing.

Powder flasks were used by hunters and soldiers to carry their gunpowder supply in the 1800’s. The rings were used to attach to a thong or bit of rope, and then sling over the shoulder as part of the black powder kit.

Product Code: 13334A/SC

Styling: This is a great item for collectors, either of American Civil War era items or shooting related items.
