Description

American pewter metal gun powder flask, originally used to charge muskets.

It is possibly from around the time of the American Civil War, although there is no makers or date mark.

The flask is embossed on both sides with a running hare surrounded by scrollwork. It has a brass ring collar and a charging spring in top.

There is some discolouration on one side, and a couple of dents. The charging spring is working, and the circular ring on the side is intact. There is a small gap in the seam at the bottom. Please see images.

Powder flasks were used by hunters and soldiers to carry their gunpowder supply in the 1800’s. The rings were used to attach to a thong or bit of rope, and then sling over the shoulder as part of the black powder kit.

Product Code: 13334C/SC

Styling: This is a great item for collectors, either of American Civil War era items or shooting related items.
