Description
Single champagne or wine bottle size wooden box with a sliding lid. This would have been used to hold 1 bottle of champagne or wine for transporting around the world. They are designed to fit one bottle, with a little room left over for packing material.
Across the lid in purple font is ‘Chinon, Au Fil De La Vigne’ and a purple coloured leaf. Inside are 2 removable pieces of wood designed to hold the neck of the bottle in place. This is to help it stop from moving around in the box when in transit.
Chinon is the appellation covering wines produced around the historic town of Chinon, in the central Loire Valley. This area has been producing wine for many centuries.
