About the artist Gloria Banks Rankin
Gloria Banks Rankin was born April 23, 1927, in Greenville, South Carolina. She moved to Alaska in 1948. It was there she became staff artist for the ‘Anchorage Times’ also a member of the Alaska Press and National Federation of Press Women. Rankin was a member of the Alaska Watercolor Society. Her contributions in the arts included costume designer and set director for the Anchorage Civic Ballet as well as for several productions of the Anchorage Civic Opera, Anchorage Community College and Anchorage Theater.
