Classic American Quilt. The design is based around stripes and checks. Outer edge is red gingham.Inner squares have hand stitching.
Traditional American quilts are made up of three layers the patchwork or pieced top, the batting or wadding (thats the layer that gives the quilt warmth and substance) and finally the backing fabric. These three layers are held together by the process of quilting, ie the technique of joining layers of fabric with stitches.
Some of the squares need restitching. See pics. The quilt is filled with a fibre wadding not raw cotton.. uitable as a throw on a bed or reconfiguring as cushions.
