A clear medium sized glass Ball mason jar with bail top glass lid. Ball is written on the front in script with Ideal in block capital letters. There are a few surface scratches as shown in the photographs but no cracks seen. As we have a few of these in stock, the one pictured here isn’t necessarily the one you will get. It may have a slightly different lid. Please check the photographs. They are all the same glass style but the design on the top may differ. Likewise, some will have the rubber seal and others may not. Some of the rubber has also perished and is cracked. This listing is for 1 jar only.

Script Ball without underscore and is plainly written – 1923-1933 so these jars were made between 1923 and 1933.

Ball Mason jars are iconic American kitchen storage jars. Production started in the mid 1800’s.  Before the age of freezers the housewife preserved all her fruit, pickles and vegetables in these jars.  Therefore all kitchens had lots of these.  The most popular sizes were the Half Gallon, the Quart and the Pint.  There were 2 other sizes, the rare Half pint and the 3 Pint (known as the moonshiners jar, as that is what they generally used).

Please remember when buying vintage items, they will have signs of use but that is also what makes them so unique.  We do our best to photograph and explain the condition of the item as best we can.  If you have any questions about a particular item, please contact us. Please take the time to look at all pictures.
