Description

A great antique piece, over 100 years old, and nicely handcrafted. A Scorpion and a stylized fish are featured, along with decorative geometrics. In most cases, these were used for generations and, being of brass, were very durable.

The history of measurement systems in India is dated back to 5th millennium BC and it started from Indus valley civilization. The Dhokra art was also started simultaneously by the artists with bright shining brass metal. This measuring bowl is a collectible article which depicts the rich heritage of Indus valley. The magnitude of rich Indian heritage reflects in the detailed art work of the measuring bowl.

Dhokra is non–ferrous metal casting using the lost-wax casting technique. It is indicative of this region of India, and each is unique. This one is cast in brass.
