A vintage black Frister & Rossmann hand crank sewing machine on a wooden base with lid.
This sewing machine is fitted onto a wooden base. It is black with gold decorative leaves, scrolls and linework. The end plate above the foot has been decorated with the same scrolls and linework. The machine flips open to reveal a pocket underneath to store sewing items such as extra feet, needles or bobbins etc. There is a useful line guide along the side of the machine
On the base of the machine is some beautiful mother of pearl inlaid flowers. There is also a name plate on the base with T. Janes & Son, Egham and trademark in Berlin written in gold. The serial number has been engraved near the base of the crank. There is the original Frister & Rossmann manufacturers badge on the side. The wooden lid has carved shaped sides and a metal handle on the top.
There is some surface wear and scratches, both to the machine and lid, and a chip near the serial number on the machine. There is also some rust spots in places. The lid also does not lock onto the base and may not be the original. This can be seen in the photographs.
