Description

A lovely print from the Oliver Warner Sailing Ships Book of the ship the “Lord Lowther”. The book of prints dates back to 1958 and was published by Ariel Press in London. This single print has The “Lord Lowther” printed across the bottom.

It has a slight bit of yellowing along the edges, but no rips, tears or folds in the picture.

We have other prints from this series, so please take a look at our other listings or contact us for more information.

About the Lord Lowther – An Indiaman built at Barnard’s Yard, Deptford in 1825. In the course of her life she was to change hands several times. First in 1834 she was sold to Captain A. Grant, then the next in 1839 to Tomlin and Man. The latter owners then sold her to Joseph Somes for the Madras trade, but she was lost in the very next year. In the print she is shown leaving Prince of Wales Island (Coloured aquatint by E. Duncan after W. J. Huggins, 1828.).
