A tall slim vintage fire extinguisher mounted on a board.
This red and gold coloured fire extinguisher was manufactured by the Richmond Chemical Company, Silver Spring, Maryland, U.S.A. It is a metal tube, 22 inches long and 2 inches in diameter, with a metal ring on the top end.
This is a tubular dry-powder fire extinguisher. The instructions for use and the company’s guarantee are written on the tube.
A number of fire extinguishers were invented over the centuries, using compressed air, water, gasses, chemicals or a combination.
There are some surface scratches where the fire extinguisher clips onto the back board and a small dent in the same area. This is shown in the photographs.
