Vintage wooden chicken crate.
This crate was for the transport of chicken or other poultry and is constructed of wooden dowels. There is wire wound around the middle each dowel to give it extra strength. The hatch on top opens with a twine handle. The base is solid wood with a hole in each corner. Part of the top layer on the bottom of the base has started to peel away. This can be stuck back down into place . Please see images.

Styling: These crates have so many uses. Keep as a chicken crate. Turn it sideways and use as a plate holder in the kitchen, a towel holder in the bathroom, a plant holder/display item for the home or garden. Remove the top, turn it upside down and use it as a light shade/fixture. Place a solid piece of wood on the top, add some caster wheels or legs and make it into a coffee table. So many possibilities and uses for this humble crate.
