These reclaimed cast iron legs once held a heavy industrial machine in America in the early 20th century. The belt-drive machine lathe bases or upright legs are designed with stylized tapered curves. The foot pads or floor plates provide added support and stability and have a hole were they were fixed to the floor.
The top of each base has 4 fixing holes. These are in slightly different places between the two legs, with 1 set of holes more towards the corners than the other. The bases were once painted green and also white, but a lot of the paint has worn or flaked away. Where the paint has come away, there is signs of rust. Please see images.
