Original cast iron post box featuring the initials G.R on the front
Iconic British red post box dated from the time of King George V Rex 1910-1936.
This form of box was recessed into a wall cavity, sparing the Post Office the cost of producing a pillar box. It was originally used in rural areas, or where pavements and lighting were minimal. It opens in the back and has the letter slot in the front.
The paint is flaking off and there is corrosion where it hasn’t been painted. It is still a good, solid item though. Please see images.
Please remember when buying vintage items, they will have signs of use but that is also what makes them so unique. We do our best to photograph and explain the condition of the item as best we can.
